Actually, you're mostly right.  But it's "single tincture fields" that are
not registered by the SCA, and that includes the variants of ermine.  So
you cannot bear "Gules ermined Or", but you can be the eldest son of the
still-living guy who bears it ("Gules ermined Or, a label argent.")
Seamus Ruadh, his history's in Jaelle's precedents, and the irreverent
comment is mine alone.
