When I made that drive (Dallas to St. Louis) in 1991, it was about a 12
hour run (that includes gas and food stops).  We had 2 drivers, so the
drive wasn't bad, but all I wanted to do when I arrived was sleep.  (That
was mainly because we left after work on Friday evening and so arrived
about 6am.)  The drive back on Sunday was fine, though.
