For clarification for me, Seamus:  You are specifically referring to the
type of cross on the tabards in the Disney version of the Three
Musketeers (as noted by Mistress Serena), correct?

I understand that they are post period but there are sources that put
them at the very end of our period  (late 1500's) I have seen this cross
in several movies but also in heraldry books I just can't remember which
one at this time...
