Right!  So what about:

(Fieldless) On a dragon sable, an annulet dovetailed of six on the outer
edge argent.

Or heck, even:

(Fieldless) On a dragon sable, a cogwheel argent.

Draw it with six cogs if you like. Nice 'working' symbolism, too.
