Charges on a bend follow the line of the bend unless blazoned
otherwise (and the same for bends sinister). The crosses look like

       /
      / /
     / X /
    / /
   / X /
  / /
 / X /
/ /
     /
    /

(Yes, it is possible to change the blazon for them to look like

       /
      / /
     / + /
    / /
   / + /
  / /
 / + /
/ /
     /
    /

But may I try to convince you to do the period thing?)

The Words that are Capitalized in an SCA Blazon:
- (Fieldless), traditionally put in parens.
- (Tinctureless).
- The first word of the blazon. (Fieldless) and (Tinctureless) are
not part of the blazon; they're just leading indicators to show that
  you didn't forget the field.
- The tincture "Or".
- Proper names, as in "Bowen knot", "cross of Jerusalem", "Catherine
  wheel", "Maltese cross", et cetera.

Hence
(Fieldless) On a Catherine's wheel Or a Maltese cross gules.

"On" is for one charge X entirely on another Y, with no part of X (the
"tertiary charge") extending over onto the background that underlies Y
(or the fieldlessness, in this case). Do you plan to have that small
a cross on the hub of the Catherine's wheel?

As I recall, "St." appears to be a post-period abbrev., so they prefer
"Saint" or "S.". Of course, I know what you mean.

There's a "no-photocopy list", an appendix of the Administrative
Handbook of the SCA, which are things that you don't have to submit
photocopies for. It includes some of the most common and reliable
name sources, pages on the Laurel Web site, Known World Heraldic
Symposia proceedings, the Ordinary and Armorial, and such.

Saint Gabriel is not on that list. Therefore, you must submit copies
of their report just as you would for any random Web page that's not
on that list. (You don't have to go to the bibliography that they
supply and copy *their* sources: we take S. Gabriel's word for it that
the sources that they cite say what they say they say. Shit, someone
shoot that assonant sibilant sentence.) The copy should contain the
URL, the "title page" (title, author, and other publisher info), and
the sheets that pertain to you: in the case of a Saint Gabriel report
for your own name, that would presumably be all of it.

It should be noted that S. Gabriel saying that a name is period is no
guarantee of registration. Laurel King of Arms is free to find their
arguments unpersuasive, and occasionally does.
