The following is forwarded to the list on behalf of Dame Gwenllian ferch
Maredudd, Bright Leaf Herald (and a former Asterisk Herald here in Ansteorra).

Star Note: Please note that the Pennsic Consulting Table has been asked to
not take Ansteorran submissions, but to consult only. This means that they
should direct any Ansteorrans who consult to bring their forms back to
Ansteorra (and their monies) and submit here. While the table has shown
great improvements in recent years, there have been cases of long delays in
getting the forms from Pennsic, lost forms, and money issues (mostly how
much they want to keep of the fee). To avoid these issues, and because in
Ansteorra our internal process runs very efficiently, we have asked that
they not accept submissions. Nevertheless, the consulting experience at
Pennsic is phenominal and the wealth of knowledge massive; Ansteorrans
should be encouraged to consult at Pennsic if they desire to do so and
Ansteorran heralds are encouraged to assist at the consulting table as it
is a great experience.

 >>> From Dame Gwenllian:
Greetings –

The time for the great Pennsic War is rapidly approaching, and once again,
Heralds’ Point needs assistance from the populace who will be attending the
war. The positions we have to fill are listed below. If you have any
questions or would like to volunteer for a specific time, please contact
Gwenllian ferch Maredudd at wenthlyan at yahoo.com.

Heralds:
Our consultation table needs consulting heralds to offer advice on names
and/or armory. If you are just beginning to learn book heraldry and don’t
feel ready to consult yourself, you are also welcome to come and work with
a more experienced herald. This can be a great way to improve your
consulting skills.

Scribes:
We are looking for heraldic artists who can draw armory for submitters. We
have reference books, drawing tools, and a light box for tracing, but we
need your artistic skills. We also need help coloring armory submissions.
No heraldic knowledge is necessary; we can tell you which colors go where.

Exchequers:
The consultation table needs cashiers to accept payments and process receipts.

General Help:
We also need volunteers to greet submitters and maintain the waiting list,
to shelve books, and to run errands. No heraldic knowledge is necessary for
these tasks, but they can be a good way to learn more about what book
heralds do.

Heralds’ Point will be open most days during the War from 11 AM to 5 PM,
beginning on Wednesday, August 11. We will be offering evening hours on
Saturday, August 14, and Wednesday, August 18. We need consulting heralds,
cashiers, greeters, and general help during our open hours. Artwork and
coloring can be done at any time.

Last year, Pennsic Heralds’ Point helped more than 350 people choose a name
and/or armory. We would like to help even more people this year, but we
need your help!
