For an Anglo-Norman name, I'd start with the articles listed in the Medieval 
Names Archive on the "English Names from the Conquest to 1300" page:

If, in searching the 'net, you hit a page that you're wondering about, it's a 
good idea to check the list at:

http://www.s-gabriel.org/names/arval/badpages.shtml

The list is not all inclusive, but it does list the pages that we routinely 
see get cited as docs for medieval names.
