You may be reasoning beyond your evidence.  Most period knights did
homage and swore fealty to the man from whom they held their main
lands, but I don't know that "most" of the time that it was the same
lord who also knighted them.  But in any event, being knighted had
nothing whatsoever to do with lordship.

(Wise of you to include the "most": consider how a minor king like
King Edward VI could have been knighted.)
