Magnus asked:

Not from the IGI itself, because of the uneveness in scholarship of those
allowed to enter information (virtually anybody). However, for what Yin
understands is a modest fee, one can obtain a photocopy of the record used
to enter the information IF the entry is based on something like a scholarly
preservation of a primary source (say, a parish registry). That's because
even the Catholic Church hired the LDS preservationist-geneologist folk to
microfilm such primary sources in many locations. Yin knows of several
people who have used such photocopies to document their names and/or
spellings thereof because said photocopy is literally a 2nd generation copy
of that primary source.

So, the IGI is a good starting point. But it isn't, in and of itself, the
end. One needs to go to the next level in that system, and it usually costs
something. Which cost should be borne by the submitter, not the herald.
