Can we get the modern-world political pontification off this list?
For one thing, it's way off topic.  For another, there's a good reason
why the tradition mannered dinner table didn't discuss politics,
religion, and ... er, was it sex or money?  Unless discussed entirely
dispassionately and anthropologically, it easily leads to loud and
offensive statements and arguments.
