[ANSTHRLD] question about augmentation

Yes, that's right - thanks, Hedwig! :)

I think what Aaron actually said was something like "a
Black Star on a gold field," and I'm assuming that was
a suggestion, not a mandate (you know, since the Crown
can't mandate the form an augmentation takes).

Nonetheless, I think we'd like to try to make the gold
field/Black Star thing happen. We were sort of
picturing it as a canton, though. Does this bit that
Emma quoted preclude that?:

RfS VIII.7 states, "If [the augmentation] has the
appearance of being independent armory, for example a
charged escutcheon or canton, then it is independently
subject to the normal rules of armorial conflict."
This means that the augmentation must be checked for
conflict as if it were a separate piece of armory.

If a canton won't work, what are the options for gold
field/Black Star as an augmentation in some form? If
there aren't any, are there other options? Like adding
an argent or Or "Black Star" somewhere on the device?
Ooh, can we add a Black Star on a gold base, thereby
covering up the argent base already on the device?
Heehee! That would be awesome.

Thanks for all your help! I agree that this has been
an interesting and educational thread. :)

Sara
