As for default postures, you need look no further than the Glossary of
Terms, Table 4:

It is true that some recognized defaults haven't been listed yet, and
if you really want to know if there is one you can check Laurel
precedents, but there is never any fault in going to the side of
caution and blazoning all the details.  Part of the jobs of the
kingdom College of Heralds and of the College of Arms is to refine the
blazon to it's most descriptive and concise form, and trust me, it is
always best to detail out anything that should be detailed out in
order to let the Colleges know what's important about the emblazon.
