[ANSTHRLD] [Fwd: Heraldry announcement for Commentary]

Personally, I'm seeing this argument being done from the point-of-view of an experienced SCAdian...
....but what about "Joseph de Neubie"?  A person off the street, exploring the SCA before deciding whether or not to join, doesn't have a clue yet.  How does this person distinguish "person" from "group"?  Does he or she know what signifies a "canton", "shire" or "barony"?
If you're going to remove or even forbid the use of the laurel wreath, shouldn't it be replaced with something for the "beginners" to help them along?

  You may have identified a second by product of Robins reason.
"Identify-ability", Hostorically that is a sound purpose f heraldry.  Both
for friend and foe, as in" Hey, look over there that Baron and whats left of
his guard are getting slaughtered, lets go help and turn the tide of this
battle".
  Despite this, I too support the revocation of the Laural wreath from group
arms.  "Identify-ability", I wonder how many people not on this list can
identify the arms of the Barony's of our Kingdom?
