A "bend reversed" is a "bend sinister".  Reversed for
things and Contourney for Animals flips perpendicular to the default
orientation of the charge -- which is usually, but not necessarily along the
vertical axis .A "bend reversed" is still a "bend", not a "bend sinister". When you flip on the perpendicular axis (i.e. the bend sinister axis) you still get a bend.See what happens to "Sable, on a bend argent two lions passant contourney gules." The default orientaton for a lion passant is normally fesswise. Since they're on the bend, the new default orientation is bendwise -- they're walking up the bend. Reversing that has them walking down the bend.
A "bend inverted" is still a "bend."  Inverted flips along
the axis of the default orientation of the charge -- which is usually, but not
necessarily along the horizontal axis.See what happens to "Sable, on a bend argent two lions passant inverted gules." As before, their new default orientation is bendwise -- they're walking up the bend. Inverting that still has them walking up the bend, but the feet are now along the chief edge of the bend rather than the base edge.

Greetings,

Actually, the "bend inverted" should be a "bend
sinister"...and they are visually different. Changing from one to the
other
would give you a CD.
