Thank you all for your assistance.  However, the name he is looking at is Maxell (no "w").  Does anyone have anything on that particular name?

Greetings this day

This has some spellings from Black, Surnames of Scotland that are period.

The name is Scots with a rather late period spelling.

I can almost guarantee that that is a conflict with:
Gabriel of Maccuswell March of 2001 (via the East).
Maccuswell is the medieval form of Maxwell.  The sound is pretty much identical but you may get an extra syllable.

If you are interested in permission to conflict with sir Gabriel (Gabriel Billington) you should go ahead and ask him at

Is is registerable with permission to conflict?  Probably but it is definitely not without the letter.
You will have to see if you can get a letter and send it in.

If you require assistance with drafting a letter of permission please let me know.  I do this regularly for submitters.
