Checking the COA Glossary of Terms at
<http://heraldry.sca.org/heraldry/coagloss.html>, I see "Gores and
gussets are _not_ peripheral charges (because they extend so far into
the center of the field)."  It is, however, a charge, so the
insufficient-contrast comment is nonetheless true.

Looking at registered blazons, it looks like the scorpion would be the
primary charge, and the dexter gore is probably the default.  So

     Vert, a scorpion bendwise Or and a gore gules.

But don't sweat the blazon, especially because it would be returned.
Laurel adjusts the blazon at need.
