Greetings to all and sundry from Star Principal Herald!

This month marks the first issue of the all-new Ansteorran Gazette. I
would call it the new all-electronic version, except the Gazette has
been entirely electronic in distribution for some time now. The
primary difference now is that instead of a traditional
newsletter-style format in PDF, we are moving to plain text for a more
concise format, including URLs to items that were formerly reproduced
in full in the Gazette, such as the Internal Letter of Intent. This
new version of the Gazette will continue to be archived on the
heraldry website for the forseeable future, but otherwise will be
distributed only via the heralds discussion mailing list. All branch
heralds will be required to be subscribed to the discussion list, or
arrange to be able to receive the Gazette from it in some other
fashion.

While the requirement to be subscribed to the mailing list is a new
one, lest anyone complain about the implied requirement for Internet
access, I point out that it has long been a requirement of the office
to be able to receive a copy of the Ansteorran Gazette, and that the
Gazette has been distributed only electronically (via the website and
email ) for several years now. As this has not been a problem for
anyone as far as I am aware, I will continue to assume that explicitly
requiring subscription to the mailing list directly or indirectly
(through having someone forward items from it) is not a problem.

Future issues will have more substance to them aside from submissions,
such as the more typical office openings and selections, and whatnot.
In the meantime, I remind you all that the Ansteorran Heraldic and
Scribal Symposium is on July 31 in the Barony of Wiesenfeuer (Oklahoma
City, OK), and it is FREE. FREE FREE FREE! Come and teach, or take
classes, or both!

As this is the first issue of the new Gazette style, we will no doubt
need to tweak the format and contents. For this, we will certainly
need your feedback! Please email comments to Obelisk and/or Star, or
simply reply to this newsletter.

For now, I will let you (hopefully) enjoy the rest of the contents of
this newsletter.
