You are likely correct in regard to its use in the biblical book of Isaiah.  However, it was also used as a personal name:
 
Ezra 8:16 (Whole Chapter) 
Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding. (Authorized Version aka King James Version of 1611)

If I have missed this on another thread forgive me, but from what i could find it appears that "Ariel" in the Bible refers to city of Jerusalem, not an individual.
