A recessive gene like that could have easily shown up earlier in Ireland or elsewhere in Europe.
It's clearly less fatal than cystic fibrosis.

This is something that could have happened (and probably did) to silver miners
r silversmiths in period. Or people drinking water contaminated by silver mine
ailings.
But that's getting awfully close to registering a persona story.

hy is he blue? Well blue would hold if he had a heart condition and had a blue
st to his complexion or if when he was born he was blue due to asphyxiation.
uldn't be because of eye color since that is common in that part of the world.
so woad wearing wouldn't be a real stand out. It wouldn't be because he is
lancholy either. So again what about him is blue?

eralds of Ansteorra,
have a client who has come to me with a name that he's been using
thout registration for some time and it falls to me to see if it is
gisterable. It takes the form "GivenName the Color," in this case,
ue. I am very new to name research, so I'm a bit unsure where to
art with documentation, but I'm skeptical to begin with. My gut
eling is that names like Erik the Red (which the client cited as a
ecedent for the construction) are references to the person's
mplexion or hair color. And, woad not withstanding, blue isn't
mmon for either.
hat's my best starting point? This name is, I believe, Irish.
ours in Service,
-Antoine D'Aubernoun
