[ANSTHRLD] a question about supporters on achievements

The confusing part is that we think of arms, mantling, supporters, etc. as "mine". They aren't. They belong to the lands or titles that you have.

For instance, Prince Charles is the Duke of Cornwall, the Earl of Chester, and the Baron of Renfrew (among others). Each of these titles includes armorial bearings, and they are all his. But he cannot put principality supporters on the ducal arms, or a ducal coronet on the county arms.

Similarly, Your Excellency, you are a Baron, and have the right to use supporters. These supporters are already registered. They are "grice rampant erminois gorged of an oak wreath and maintaining in its mouth an oak sprig vert fructed proper". You may display these supporting the arms of the Steppes.

The Hepburn arms are the arms of a peer and don. The Steppes arms are the arms of a barony. You have the right to both, but the armorial bearings are not interchangeable.

I have a helm and a mask, both of which pass armor inspection. But the helm with my fencing doublet, or my mask with the chivalric armor, just won't pass, by any marshal.

Hope this helps.
