I like a salty starch and/or protein to balance the sweets.
I usually take salted nuts to events, and I could bring Fritos too.

I've only looked for jerky in gas station convenience stores, where it
seems to be 1/4 ounce for $30.  (OK, perhaps I exaggerate a bit.)
I wonder if there's a cheaper source?
