Rhinos come in a wide variety of colors, so I would suggest that there is no
"proper" color for a rhino.

 

Ceratotherium simum, or "white rhino"

Diceros bicornis, or "black rhino"

Rhinoceros unicornus, or "Indian rhino"

 

Etc.  The white rhino and black rhino are much the same color except in
recessive variants which are, not surprisingly, white and black,
respectively.  Mostly rhinos are the color of whatever they have recently
rolled in.

 

I think we want to suggest heraldic tinctures in this case.
