Greetings unto the College!

I had a nice time visiting with many folks at RT today. I wanted to send a
re-cap of the various meetings for the folks who couldn't make it...

Thank you to everyone who came out.

Plenary Meeting Notes:

We discussed the Ansteorran Gazette. The survey data collected show the
vast majority of respondents don't utilize the Gazette for submissions
related information. In light of the results, I have decided to discontinue
publication of the Gazette. Letters from Star will be published on this
list, and to the Black Star. I will be investigating the possibility of
having the monthly missive appear on the CoH website.

There is a new Bordure Herald, Alisone McCay. She has plenty of experience
within the College and I look forward to working with her. Eirik has stated
they're shooting at a complete transition sometime around September.

Adalia Asterisk has asked me to pass on some concerns she has noticed: All
articles not originating from Http://heraldry.sca.org or those that are not
NUMBERED reports from the Academy of Saint Gabriel MUST have photocopies
included with submissions. Submissions which do not have required
photocopies may be administratively returned.
Please do not staple forms and docs in the submissions packets, it makes
processing the paper much more tedious.
Remember, we register the emblazon (the picture), not the blazon (the
words). This has apparently been relayed wrong to some submitters recently.
Please only use one check per packet mailing.
NO CASH should ever be sent to Asterisk. Any packets mailed with cash will
be administratively returned, along with the cash.

New submission forms are on the Herald's website. They reflect the correct
amount of copies to mail into Asterisk. Please make an effort to discard
old forms. The forms should have March 2012 as the approval date in the
bottom. Any other date is not the most current form. Fillable PDFs are in
the works.

Local reporting continues to have some issues. I'm less concerned with
timing, and much more concerned with content. As we move toward electronic
submissions, the submissions processing role of the Local herald has been
decreasing. The reports will help us determine what direction the College
is travelling in. Please strive to accurately complete your reports with
the various activities you're doing, so that we can have a good picture of
the function of the local branches.

The Educational Arm of the College will be restructuring... Arbalest is no
longer going to be doing notifications (these will pass to Bordure).
Instead, he'll be working on getting our warranting materials online, so
that they will be available for folks to review, and also to assist in
getting warranting classes out to the geographically challenged or travel
impaired. As Tressure gets settled into his new office, we'll further work
out the distribution of duties.

I will be working with Armillary to decentralize the travelling library,
and instead place 3 libraries in the possession of the regional heralds, in
order to allow better use of our resources. I plan to get usb sticks
together which we can load up with the heraldstick software.

I have created a group on facebook geared toward heraldic consultations for
Ansteorrans by Ansteorrans. I am still working on the technical logistics
of the group, but I expect it to launch soon. If you have an interest,
please get in touch. I want this group to help us reach out to folks who
cannot sit down with a herald in person for whatever reason.

All of these changes are geared toward meeting our educational mission. I
really have a vision of the College helping to encourage heraldic display
and excellent heraldry in all areas of our kingdom.

Last round table I spoke about a survey aimed at getting to know the
talents in our College. That survey is almost live. I will be sending out
announcements when it becomes live. Please watch for it.

State of the Kingdom Meeting notes:

In the open session, I thanked the Barony of Bjornsborg for their hard work
hosting KWHSS. I was inspired by the excellent job the stewards Ines
Callisto and Adelaide Wakeforest did leading their Barony, as well as the
class coordinators Snorri and Cynric.

I introduced Detlef von Marburg as the new Zodiacus Herald, and also
Countess Sara Penrose as my ER Deputy.

I also talked briefly about the above mentioned facebook group, asking
people to watch for it soon.

Countess Sara and Mistress Serena have worked diligently to bring forth
four new awards texts to augment the existing awards texts for the AoA,
Sable Crane, Sable Thistle, and Sable Talon. Their Excellencies are putting
the final touches on the document, and when it is complete, I'll let you
all know to go look for it so you can check out the awesome new texts.

Lastly, I mentioned that my tenure is coming to an end in January.
Applications are opening for my office next month, and close at the end of
September. If you have an interest, please talk to me about it.

I remain in service,

Andrewe Bawldwyn, CSM
Star Principal Herald
