Found this in a cookbook: The Medieval Cookbook by Maggie Black. Thames
and Hudson, 1992. LOC card catalog number 92-81536
For the Migraine.
Take a half a dishful of barley, one handful each of betony, vervain, and
other herbs that are good for the head; and when they be well boiled
together, take them up and wrap them in a cloth and lay them to a sick
head, and it shall be whole. I proved (MS 136. 60 g. Trs. W.D.)
