OK, so maybe we need to fix this from another direction.

Rather than everyone who can go to Pensic getting all of the goodies, what about having an "Herb-sic" (sic) for those who are so inclined?

We are in Southern Illinois, the tail-end end of the Middle kingdom, near Carbondale, Illinois. We have a nice patch of national forest and wildlife refuge where the University I work for has a retreat center ("Touch of Nature"). As a University-sponsored student organization, we can get that pretty inexpensively, kitchen, feasthall, classrooms, cabins, and all, sleeps about 140 comfortably in-doors, plus about oh, maybe 1000 acres available for pavilions around the lake(s) there.....Plenty of herbs and wildflowers growing right there, naturally. (Don't pick; just look!) If it's around May, we can do the morel mushroom thing (unless they choose another time to grow, which is always possible). You can pick the mushrooms.

This has been batted around privately in this area and in really desultory conversation with a couple of list folks (I think they're on the list) via internet chat. Thus far, the local people are all for it, and the long-distance ones though it might be worth the trip. This Spring (April or May, maybe?) sound possible? Discussion? Comments? Suggestions? Detractions?
