The garden failed this season. We have been under drought restrictions
too long and there was too much to water by watering can. The basil
looked pretty sad until the recent rain and then it perked up. Funny
enough the avian visitors to the yard have increased. Seems that
American Gold finches like the basil seeds and the early appearance of
cardinals scares me a little as they are usually winter birds in these
parts. The nasturtiums which usually die from aphids went with the
drought. Even the crabgrass and dandelions went. Oh well, theres always
next year.
