HERB - Question

Help again!  <G>

I've been having problems connecting period names for flowers with modern
ones, and the pinks have me particularly confused.  I can find Dianthus
chinensis or dianthus, and Dianthus deltoides which is maiden pink.  So which
one is clove pink, or is that something else again?  Was clove pink used for
anything other than flavoring drinks?  Are any of the other dianthus used
herbally?
