HERB - gardens, etc. and 5 favorites

Hello!
     I'm new to the list.  My persona should know a great deal about
herbs, but her mundane self hasn't had the time.   Now I do.  
     Along with nifty web sites for herbs, could someone pleeeeeeeeease
recommend a beginners book on herb planting (live in Tennessee) and
usage.
     I'm afraid the urge has hit me and I'd love to run into the back
yard and woods, rip out the grass, and convert the whole thing to herbs
(I am controlling myself.)
