Here is a bit of trivia:
In the Greek play Medea, the king Creon and his daughter were both
killed by contact poison that Medea had put into a dress and crown
given as gifts to the daughter. The dress caused foaming at the
mouth and the crown caused fire. I think that the daughter put the
dress on and wore it for a while before the poison took effect.
Creon was killed because he reached down and took ahold of his
daughter. It was apparently very gory. The dress seemed very much
like that described in the movie. The crown ... well I suppose
within a culture that came up with Greek fire anything is possible.
