HERB - Poison Ivy help

What do we do with the plantain once we find it?
Mash it and make a paste of some kind? Just use the fluids from it?

side note......
I know most of you will screem in horror when I tell you this but...

My brother would get in a tub or very warn water with dial or safegaurd
soap. Lather up the affected area then scratch like crazy to open the
blisters. 
It always worked for him. With in a few days it would be gone.

Use to have a liquidy cream stuff called Gypsy Cream, when I was a kid.
It was wonderful stuff. Haven't been able to find it in years
