There are a number of herbs which cause diuresis, (excretion of excess
water). Don't be too hard on your doctor. We expect them to be God.
Continue to work with him or another healthcare professional. Edema by
itself is not a disease, it is a symptom. There are many things that can
cause it and some are very very serious. So, please continue to work with a
healthcare professional to at least rule out any of these.
Off the top of my head there is dandelion, pipsissewa, cucumber, caffeine,
stoneroot.
Caffeine as you know is not an herb anything that contains caffeine is fine
including coffee various teas, chocolate, cola. For me I find coffee to be
the most effective.
Please continue to search for the cause. The mechanism of fluids and
ectrolytes in the body is one of the more complex functions of human
physiology. Every system effect it and it effects every system. Doctors
can't always tell from a few basic test or a physical exam what is causing
something as complicated as this. Diagnosis is often done by a process of
elimination, which can be slow.
Good luck.
