You could buy disposable plastic pipettes so that you have nothing to clean.

I clean my glass droppers by removing the rubber bulb and soaking both in 
warm soapy water.  I allow them to dry separately and completely before 
putting the bulb back on.

As to you other question, I have no idea.  Never gave a thought actually.
