HERB - Stinging Nettle

I have a question which overlaps both the herb list and the natural dye
list.

My folks have stinging nettle growing down by their lake (at least, I ran
into a patch of it last year)   I've been told that nettles may be spun up.
Does anyone know how to prepare nettle for spinning, and how well it dyes?
