Have you checked out the Florilegium?
http://www.florilegium.org/
choose "Plants, Herbs and Spices" and then "gardens, "gardening",
"gardening-bib", "p-agriculture", "p-agriculture-bib", "p-seed-trade"
and "Pattrn-Gardns-art".
