Not really. Fiber as a laxative is not as strong as the chemical laxatives,
and from what I've heard, bulemics take a lot more than the recommended
dose. Not to mention the fact that the western diet is significantly lower
in fiber than what is recommended. One doesn't NEED to take a fiber
supplement to get adequate amounts of fiber - simply eat lots of raw (or
nearly so) fruits and veggies, and whole grains. According to the
nutritional info on my oatmeal - one serving (one cup prepared) has 4g. of
dietary fiber.
