Greetings,
The SCA predominately tends to focus on historical craft recreation/reproduction, but I oft find that our interest in historical arts and crafts are somewhat concurrent with the more modern crafts movements....

As such, you may find the following PBS documentary to be of interest and the art exhibit that will be touring the USA (see museum listings and dates on website). Houston Contemporary Crafts Center, near the Museum of Fine Arts on Main street, will be showing this Craft exhibit next February, 2008.
  Cheers, Hillary / Ansteorra

CRAFT IN AMERICA: Expanding Traditions

In spring of 2008, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft will present
CRAFT IN AMERICA: Expanding Traditions, a ground-breaking survey
highlighting the cultural significance of fine craft. The exhibition,
on view February 22 through May 4, 2008, will be the largest show the
Craft Center has hosted to date--occupying the majority of our
exhibition, retail and community spaces. HCCC was chosen as one of only
eight U.S. venues to host this prestigious exhibition, which also
includes a three-part PBS documentary series, an illustrated book and a
comprehensive Web site www.craftinamerica. org
