Greetings,
A friend of mine from church works with the The Salvation Army Family
Residence. Every year the families at the residence have the opportunity to
bring their own Christmas cheer to their current living situation by decorating
the door to their room. The residents participate in a door decorating contest
and are able to win prizes for categories such as "most beautiful", "most
spiritual" and "most whimsical".
As you are pulling out your Christmas decorations this week consider donating
the items you no longer would like to use to the Family Residence. They could
use items such as wrapping paper, ribbon, ornaments, garland, and old Christmas
cards. They will accept anything that does not have to be plugged in.
Last year Ch 13 did a story on the door decorating contest.
Check out the video on YouTube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdq5I4kvaqU.
If you are heading to Stargate Yule Revel this weekend, or the Stargate Populace
on Monday, 12/6; I can collect wrapping paper, ribbons and any decorations you
might wish to donate, as I'm heading over to the center on Tuesday to deliver
things I'm donating.
Tis the season to remember our blessings!
Cheers, Hillary
