No event on the SCA calendar to head off to this weekend?
Why not spend the day in Bordermarch at the All Day Fighter Practice, 'Hats and Bat's', in conjunction with the Ansteorran Heraldic and Scribes Symposium.

While you are at it, take a class in 'Heraldic Shield Painting Preparation' by Lord Atli Karlsson & Sir Simonn of Amber IsleDescription:  Demonstration of methods used to cover shield with canvas and prepare for painting; covering processesfrom blank shaped shield to finished product.
