I still like Connell's idea to arrive on site with a ballista loaded
with a landscape timber that has a duct-taped basketball on the end of
it. Doesn't matter whether you actually shoot it or not, just the threat
that your ballista _can_ shoot it is enough to negotiate a surrender....

I think the entire Cold War was based on this premise....
