While this piece does not seem to be suitable for trebuchet
construction, it could still be useful.

Rachael of Bluerose has a piece of stump (oak, I think) that is free to
anyone who a) wants it and b) is tough enough to haul it off. It is a
section about 2.5 - 3 feet high and 2.5 - 3 feet in diameter. It was
recently used to hold an anvil.
