Greetings from Meridies!

The day dawned wet and windy, and the line of wagons to the Gate was seemingly miles long. So we decided to go to Hattiesburg for breakfast and to make a store run. Daniel and Elayne, Vigolf and Constance, and Amber and I all crowded into Daniel's car and set off.

We stopped at the Cracker Barrel, and had just ordered food and received our drinks when the sky turned black, the rain came down so heavy that you could see the cars in the parking lot, and the lights flickered, then went out and stayed out. The manager apologised for us having to eat by the light of the oil lamps - we assured him that it was no hardship for us. The lights never did come back on while we were there, so we finished our meal and headed out to KMart, the rain having subsided somewhat. Trees and signs were down all over Hattiesburg, and there were emergency crews and police out everywhere.

Getting back to the Georgetowne Inn, we met a man who had been on site setting up his camp when the storm hit. It blew some things about, but caused no major damage or injuries that I have heard about. When the rain had subsided a bit more, we went on site to check in, about 1pm. The line at Troll wasn't too bad, and we found the Crimson Chimera encampment without trouble. By this time the rain had stopped, and we got Connie and Vigulf's tents set up, then proceeded to Daniel and Elayne's, then went to fetch the trailer for my and Amber's tent and the parachute pavilion. By the time we had set up the tent and gotten all the bit for the pavilion out, it was supper time, so we stopped and ate, then decided to leave the pavilion until morning, as it was dark and we were tired. The land is quite good - small, but better than some of the places we have been stuck, and it was nice to know that it was reserved specifically for us.

We finally found Gwenllian (or she found us) - she has set up her tent in back of her merchant's pavilion. We also run into a group of Elfsea folk with Asa and her girls - they had just arrived about 8pm and were trying to determine how to get the big truck down to the camp.

I received an email from Polydore - he had been trying to contact us all day, but could not get through on the cel numbers he attempted. He was leaving home about 9:30 this evening, rather than yesterday afternoon as he had originally planned. We expect to see him late tomorrow afternoon.

The weather is expected to be much improved tomorrow, and I hope to be able to write a more interesting missive.

We wish you were all here with us - the more Loch Ruadh folk, the more fun anything is.

More to come tomorrow.
