Bonjour mes amis! Hearty greetings from Madelina de Lyndesaye, Prize Reeve
for Lughnasad!

My cousins, as you make preparations this week for Steppes Warlord, please
keep our canton in mind. There are always a great many wond'rous merchants
at Warlord, and Loch Ruadh could do with some of their wares for prizes to
be given at Lughnasad. Please reserve a bit of your change, be it only $5
or $10, and plan to purchase something to donate to the prize trove for
Lughnasad. To date, I have only the following items donated:

2 ceramic goblets, green, with off-white Celtic crosses, from Domhnall,

a quart jar of unpasturized, raw honey from my bees,

and as much iron I can talk Logan into donating. Keep in mind, he's a very
cheap... er, thrifty Scot, but I've promised him much word fame, so I may
yet get a tripod, rather than just a set of shish kabob skewers, from him.
[I hope I don't have to resort to using marital favors, but who knows :) ]

I'm going to check out the prices on baskets at Michael's and Garden Ridge,
as I think the prizes should be given in a basket of some sort. What was
done at Glaslyn's recent event was very nice. I might see if the thrift
stores have anything presentable as well.

Here are some ideas as well:

a couple of yards of nice trim
3-4 yards of cloth
sewing items such as various colors of embroidery floss, a nice needle case,
an assortment of needles, ribbons, etc.
feast gear (wooden, ceramic, or pewter plates, bowls, etc.)
leather for projects
leather working tools
a roll of duct tape
candles, especially beeswax ones
"largesse" type jewelry
beads
CDs or tapes of period music
homemade anything, from jams and jellies to balms and salves, scented soaps,
massage oil, paper, etc.
incense
essential oils
calligraphy paper, inks, tools
scarves of natural fibers
a web certificate for $10 - ??? which can be used for anything online
or ???

Loch Ruadh has many creative, caring people. Your donation can be as small
or as large as you can afford. Your gift does not have to be new. I will
be at Elfsea Moot tonight, and will be accepting donations. I will also try
to be at Steppes Warlord. If you cannot make something or perform a service
by Lughnasad, consider buying something at Warlord to donate. Make our
canton proud! Let's make Loch Ruadh the subject of much word fame!

If you donate something, please let me know your full SCA name (and
pronunciation) as well as your mundane name.

Also, I need everyone who is running a competition at Lughnasad to let me
know how many and what type of prizes you need.

In service to Canton and Kingdom,
Madelina de Lyndesaye
