The thickest bit is in and about an area near the intersection of Perth
and Harry Hines in Dallas.

I have not attended a mass outing to the district before, but I'm sure
that transport arrangements can be made. You've taken the first step by
asking!

While there are other supplies about, the vast majority is fabric.
Several warehouse sized stores full of every description of cloth.
Second is probably trim. A couple of places have a lot of trim, too.

Prices are often pretty good. Cheap cloth there is not necessarily
cheaper than at fabric stores but expensive cloth tends to cost less
there. What you really gain is variety, the stuff you'll likely never
find elsewhere. You might find seven 60" rolls in different colors of a
particular pattern of tapestry that you might find one of at Hancock's,
if at all. That will be in a room with rows and rows of racks, all
filled with similar rolls and bolts. Then you go through a door and find
another big room and maybe a staircase leading to more rooms.

In fact, you may be overwhelmed with choices. Take the fabric inventory
only of a place like JoAnn's, multiply it by about 20, subtract some
ammenities like pretty display racks and you have about the equivalent
of one fabric district store. There are probably 10 such stores in a two
block area there, more if you want to wander about.

Now, that's not to say that there is nothing but fabric. There are a
couple of places that have lots of trim, fringe, cordage, elastic,
thread, etc.
