Feast Day of St. Hildegund
After being given the pseudonym “Joseph” and dressed as a boy by her father to ensure her safety during a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Hildegund decided to continue her masquerade permanently.  She thereby enjoyed relative personal freedom until her death in 1188.  She was canonized despite the rebuke delivered in Deuteronomy 22:5, “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment, for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.”
