I found this line to be very interesting.  Don't know if it's a typo or not,
'cause I've always thought that the main problem the Scots faced in trying
to have a country of their own and maintain a national identity was their
penchant for fighting each other, rather than uniting and fighting their
common enemy, the English.

In any case, this was an interesting read.  Thanks, Cian.
