Unto the Populace of the Canton of Loch Ruadh, The Canton of Dragonsfire
Tor sends greetings and hopes to find you well.

We would like to invite you all to attend Guardian of the Tor the weekend of
June 28-30 2002. At the Broken O Ranch in Glen Rose, Texas. Come share in
the tournaments, revelry, and enchantment that is the dream. allow yourself
the time and chance to relax under a century old Oak, enjoy the activities,
Swim in the refreshing waters of the Brazos, go fishing if you wish. we
invite you to experience the Hospitality of the Canton of Dragonsfire Tor.

Dragonsfire Tor will be choosing their champions for chivalric and Rapier
Combat, Archery and the title Bard for the Canton of Dragonsfire Tor. We
will also Be hosting the Bardic competition for the title Bard for the
Barony Elfsea held over from Elfsea Springfair. their will also be several
arts and sciences, Equestrian, and more Martial activities for you to enjoy.

The Broken O Ranch is Catering an all you can eat chuckwagon dinner for
feast. The ranch has asked for money and a reservations count for two weeks
before the event. so if you want feast please pre-pay by the 15th of June.

Merchants are welcome. Merchants, setup volunteers, and equestrians will be
allowed to enter site  at 2pm on Thursday the 27th of June site officially
opens at 2 pm on Friday the 28th

Pets are welcome on site with proof of current vaccinations. All Horses must
have their Coggins certificates

Activities at Guardian of the Tor

The theme for this years Guardian is "Sharing The Dream" in the spirit of
the dream there are several competitions planned for the populace. In the
Area of the Arts and Sciences their will be five competitions.

1) A teaching competition hosted by the SCA student group at Tarleton
University. the competitors are asked to set up a hands on class were
members of the populace can come by and learn an art form from the entrant.
it is suggested that the classes be hands on and that the teachers have
documentation.

2) A Cooperation A&S hosted by our Title artisan. All entries for this
competition should be made by two or more individuals. documentation is
requested, documentation should include the names of all persons  who worked
on the project.

3) A culinary competition. dished may be made on site or Brought to the
event. refrigeration for entries will be available as will smokers to reheat
entries. this will be a popular vote competition.

4) A desert competition dishes may be brought or made on site. refrigeration
will be available for entries. popular vote

5) a brewing and cordgels competition popular and Judges vote.

We invite all Laurels who are attending to share their knowledge and
experience at an ask a laurel table being set up in the A&S area.

There will be two Heraldic Competitions

1) Heraldic Banner competition

2)heraldic Clothing Competition

Heraldic volunteers are always welcome at heralds point.


Volunteers.
Stop by Volunteer point if you would like to volunteer your time. their is a
volunteer raffle that will be being held during the event. the only way to
get  in on the raffle is to volunteer your time. their will be lots of neat
goodies raffled off.


The combat and Martial activities include several activities over the
weekend

Rapier and Chivalric Tourney for the Guardians of the Tor.

Both the Rapier and Chivalric tourneys to chose the Guardians will be
endurance bearpits lasting 4 hours entrants may come and go from the line at
will. winners can hold the field for three bouts then they are to get back
in line. 1 point will be awarded for each win.

Saturday night Candlelight

Candlelight tourneys will be held for the rapier and chivalric fighters
Saturday night after feast and court have concluded.

Unaligned fighters tourney

The Tarleton Student group is sponsoring an unaligned fighters tourney on
Sunday open to all unaligned fighters on Sunday. unaligned fighters for this
tourney are defined as fighter who are not Squire's cadets, or Students to a
master at arms and who have not been elevated to the Chivalry or the Order
of the White scarf. Fighters entering this tourney should be sponsored by a
Squire, Cadet or Student. this will be a 5 round tourney.

The archery competition to chouse the archery Guardian will be held
Saturday.
The IKAC shoot will be held on Sunday.

a Knife axe and Spear throw will be Saturday.

there are two potluck luncheons on Saturday the Squires and Cadets mixer and
the Apprentice laurels luncheon.

their will be Equestrian activities Saturday and Sunday Horse Quality costal
meadow Hay is available on site for $4.00 as bale. their are tournaout
Paddocks available, a few stables left, and horses to rent during the event.

their are areas set up fro swimming and fishing. No unaccompanied minors
allowed by the water at the request of the ranch owners. those fishing
should have a valid Texas fishing license for the 2002 season

Site Directions
>From Granbury and Benbrook
Take 377 south to Hwy 144 take HWY 144 south to HWY 67 go North on Hwy 67
Aprox 4 miles to Co rd 317 will be on your right hand side Look for SCA
signs. go right on co rd 317 to site. if you take 67 and cross a big Iron
Bridge you have gone to far

>From Fort Worth
Take I-35 W south to Cleburne exit (Hwy 67) go south through Cleburne
through Cleburne Aprox 5 mile outside Glen Rose you will cross a large Iron
bridge Aprox 1 mile past the Bride Co rd 317 will be on your Left SCA signs
should be posted Turn Left onto co rd 317 and follow it to site
