Cian,

Thanks for passing this article along.  It may be off topic for this list, but I found it to be very stirring and even uplifting.  Having spent so many years among the Brits and even having stolen away one of their daughters to be my bride, I know that they are sometimes exasperated with us "Yanks", but we have no firmer friends and allies in the world, and this column confirms it.

Funny how someone from another country can see so clearly some of our greatest strengths, when even we ourselves do not always see them.
