Sorry to hear this...it is not Harris, it is HIPPA, the patient privacy act. 
Most hospitals, unless you have been listed on the consent form, will not give 
out any information...including if the person is a patient.  They are not 
allowed to by law. When I was in the hospital last year, my boss sent flowers and 
because she did not have my "code" they refused them telling her I was not 
there. Talk about a mess!  Still, hospitals are just trying to follow a badly 
worded law protecting our rights. Until she calls you, you might not be able to 
hear from her!  I hope all is well!
