David,
While you're certainly welcome to peruse the list to get a feel for things,
you would probably have much more fun meeting us in person. You might not
currently be in fighting condition, but you can come out to get acquainted,
particpate in classes, discussions, games, dancing or just good
conversation. We encourage as many of the populace as are able to attend
fighter practice wether or not they actually "fight".
Many of us gather for these organized and/or impromtu activities without
ever picking up a weapon.
So, come on out July 18th and introduce yourself.

Catrin ferch Rhys

Greetings, Loch Ruadh!
I am H.L. Annes Clotilde von Bamburg and I have just joined your list for a
number of reasons. First, I have recently accepted the Kingdom Historian
position and wish to learn of your populace and history by viewing your
list. But I have an additional reason to join your list.

A month ago, Westgate held its (seasonally challenged) Winter Collegeum. I
taught a class on the History of Ansteorra. I had about 4 or 5 members of
your group attend my class and I was most gratified to have them there. But
there was a gentleman there whose name I can not remember, nor do I have his
email anymore. To top it off, I don't remember what I promised to email him!
I am mortified and beg your forgiveness in this but I've been so incredibly
busy with the Argent Museum (which I hope some of you got to see, I know
that at least one gentleman who took my class was at Argent. I remember
seeing his face during court. A tall gentleman with a ruddy complexion and
rather unruly white hair. Again, the name escapes me, my apologies) that I
haven't had time to think of his request. Tonight after managing to drive
home safely from AAA, I recalled that I owed this gentle some information of
some type....if I could only remember what it was I had promised to send.
I'm sure this gentle will recognize this and if he could just contact me and
jog my memory, I would be most grateful.

Well, until the next time we meet, I remain....
In Service,
Annes

Ok, now it’s time for a more complete run down of the event for those who
might be interested. If anyone who attended knows of something I leave out
please add your thoughts, observations, or descriptions.

Many of us arrived in the early afternoon on Thurs. and spent a bit of time
trying to locate a spot that would accommodate the number of people that had
indicated that they would be attending the event. After a couple of false
starts and an attempt to pre-empt the location we felt would work, 4 of us
got started setting up tents and trying to spread out enough to hold land
for those to come. Before evening fell we had a 12 tent encampment, by the
end of the weekend we totaled 18.
Irina brought in 2 guests, Jeff and William, who seemed to enjoy their
weekend. My understanding is that they had both attended SCA events
previously, and were newly acquainted with Irina. Janie and Eoghan ( Sp?)
had a couple of guests and on Fri or Sat night another couple pitched their
tents among us. I did not get their names. Chantel and her children joined
Terrence for their first camping night with Loch Ruadh. I haven’t been able
to come up with a coherent total head-count, but there were a lot of us
there!
As a whole the group fielded 2 fighters in the New Fighter Tournament, 2 in
Rapier, 1 in Equestrian, and 3 in Youth Boffer. A&S entries were submitted
by 4 of the Populace and several volunteered as Marshals or assisted in
other capacities.
Much of the time our encampment was deserted as all of our members were out
and about, participating in or watching various activities.
Robert de Reyes (Robbie) battled to victory as the Argent Anniversary Youth
Boffer Champion and Terrence won the A&S Largess Competition, both were
recognized in Court. Ducky lasted through the semi-finals in his first
tournament, greatly enjoying his day. (Get him to re-enact his win from his
knees.).
The sedan chair commissioned by TRM Drake and Sibri, constructed by
Polydore, Alric, and Padraig was a sight to behold, as Her Highness was
carried into to court to be crowned Queen.
All in all Loch Ruadh was well represented and equally well received at this
event.

Wonderful! This is just the type of chronicle that I am hoping to see by
looking into the groups list! I saw that incredible sedan chair but had no
idea who was responsible for its making! Now I will have it on record in the
historian files! Vivat Lock Ruadh!

David,

Welcome to Loch Ruadh!!

Check the calendar on our web site http://lochruadh.org/calendar.htm we have
many activities that you could attend and have the opportunity to meet some
of the people in our group. The activities are very informal and a great
place to meet and get to know people. If you decide to wait until Lughnasad
PLEASE be sure you introduce yourself. If we "seem" distracted it is only
because this is "our" one event of the year. Most of us will be very busy
making sure our friends and family from around the Kingdom have FUN. I
would hate for you to be lost in the sea of new faces that some of us will
encounter at Lughnasad.

If you are using electricity "only" for your travel trailer there is no
additional cost.
