also    what   kind of metal  is it  .  it makes a difference  as to  the type  of metal  and what and how it is welded  .    for  instance light aircraft uses chrome molly  and is very hard and durable . gas welding tig welding  wire welding   are just some     let us know and one of us might be able to help    wolfie

What is the thickness that you are wanting to weld? What type of welder do you have ? It shouldnt be a big deal to weld although bolting it will be much safer in battle, welds can crack...
